"And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great
power and glory. And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather
together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the
earth to the uttermost part of heaven. Now learn a parable of the fig
tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know
that summer is near: So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things
come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors. Verily I say unto
you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. But of
that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in
heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for
ye know not when the time is. For the Son of man is as a man taking a far
journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to
every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch Watch ye therefore:
for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at
midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly
he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch."
(Mark 13:26-37)
"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy
heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and
great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy
neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the
prophets." (Matthew 22:37-40)
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to
observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you
alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
(Matthew 28:19-20)
We do not know when the Lord is coming. We do
know that this world is not our home - we are here to prepare for serving
God in our eternal home in Heaven and to ensure that this generation and
those that follow know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.
We must all be about the Master's business - time is
running out. God created us all for a reason and not
by accident. We all have God-given purposes in this life
and must fullfill them with all of our body, soul, and spirit.
Harvest Baptist Church is a focused, purpose driven church and as
members we should devote our time and energy to leading focused,
purpose
driven lives that include:
 | Worship - Bringing
pleasure to God - We were all created to please God.
"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for
thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were
created." (Revelation 4:11) |
 | Fellowship - Loving
God's family - We were all formed to be God's family.
"Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for
us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren." (I
John 3:16) |
 | Discipleship - Becoming
like Christ - We were all created to be like Christ.
"For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to
the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many
brethren." (Romans 8:29) |
 | Ministry - Serving God
- We were all shaped to serve God. "For we are his
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath
before ordained that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:10) |
 | Evangelism - Leading others to
Christ - We were all made for a mission. "Go ye
therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe
all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway,
even unto the end of the world. Amen."
